I am trained and experienced in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and sometimes I add some psychodrama to keep it moving.
When I’m not in the office, I am a mother of two amazing children and a spouse of a long-term partner. These relationships help me to better understand the complex challenges and the beauty of families. I love yoga, riding bikes when the weather is cool, escaping to the mountains when I can, and enjoying the everyday joys of having small children.
Jamie Schmieder, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
My name is Jamie Schmieder, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Sundrop Therapy.
Serving others in a therapeutic environment is my passion in life and a career I love more than I could have imagined.
To be in a space to witness the healing journey of another person is one of the most honorable and enjoyable experiences. I approach therapy with a warm, empathetic heart dedicated to developing meaningful connections with my clients for the purpose of creating a comforting space to promote healing. I believe that every challenge is an opportunity for self-reflection and personal growth.
My role is to help others find the root of the issues, and their own strengths and strategies to become their best selves. I have over 12 years of experience working with clients from various backgrounds, in various settings, to help them work towards sobriety, overcome mental health challenges, improve their relationships and achieve life goals. The therapeutic modalities I use is a client-centered, trauma-focused approach in which I incorporate different therapeutic modalities depending on the strengths and goals of my clients.
What does therapy look like? What are all the “therapeutic modalities” and what do they mean? What can someone expect when they come to therapy?
The very first step is completing a free, 15 minute phone consultation with the therapist, Jamie Schmieder. The purpose of this call is to hear the short version of why you are seeking therapy, what are you looking for in a therapist, and the details…cost (I do not take insurance), scheduling, location, etc, to see if we would be a good fit working together. If it is established to be a good fit, we schedule our first appointment. I email you some documents to complete online prior to arriving to the first appointment.
At the first appointment, we will start therapy by getting to you know! What have you been dealing with that led you to seek therapy? What symptoms are you experiencing, depression, anxiety, etc? What are you goals for therapy. If you don’t know, we can talk more about them. How can I best help you as a therapist? Lots of information gathering. I try to make this as fun and interesting as possible. We will come up with a plan of what therapy will look like. Most people’s end goal is to never return to therapy! Others might have a longer-term goal and both are okay. Everyone’s goals will look differently and the path to accomplish these goals always looks different.
